Chattanooga!

Last weekend we took a little mini-vacation to Chattanooga. Ryan had to go for a few days for work so me being DESPERATE for any type of vacation, jumped at the opportunity to go. Ry had to be at SELCAT at like 8am so we left at around 5. I am not a morning person at all, to be quite honest I'm not a before lunch person. I just pretended that we were on our way to the beach, instead of Chattanooga, to make the early morning wake-up manageable. Once we got there I found the cheapest hotel that I wasn't afraid to sleep in and me and Hunter enjoyed some free breakfast and a nice little nap. I guess our little trip was more like a "staycation" instead of a vacation, which was fine with me. Staying in a hotel always rocks no matter where you are. The next day we actually got out and explored and had so much fun! We took Hunter to the Creative Discovery Museum. That place is incredible! Every corner is filled with something to do, and its educational which is always a plus. Once I'm an established teacher, if there even is such a thing : ), I want to definitely take my students there.

All in all it was a successful trip. Get ready for next weeks adventure: Atlanta! Until next time-

Cabbage Soup! Yum Yum!

Yesterday I decided that enough is enough! I'm going on a diet! My grandparents have this recipe for cabbage soup, you're supposed to lose a ton of weight if you stick to the soup and just like eat certain fruits and veggies each day. So, me and Dakotah brewed up like 3 gallons of cabbage soup yesterday at my apartment. I don't know if it was something I ate earlier that day or if it was the smell of the cabbage boiling but I threw up all night. Not such a good way to start off my diet. Not to mention I spent like forty bucks on the stuff to make the soup so I had to eat the stuff and stick to the diet, right? All I have to say is that its only day 2 and all I want is a steak quesadilla from Taco Bell, a Mellow Yellow, and some chocolate ice cream. I refuse to throw in the towel, I am going to lose 15 pounds before I even look at a bathing suit! Everyone keep your fingers crossed that by some miracle I actually stick to it. I have to at least try, Ryan is already making fun of me and saying that I'll never do it. Time to prove him wrong! Dakotah had a some very wise words and I think im going to make them my motto, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." So true D.

She's Bangin'

My hair has been long for way to long. Don't get me wrong I loved it so much, and honestly I can't believe I chopped it off and cut bangs. I cut off like 6 1/2 inches of hair! It was a major change! So of course I had to go out and show off my new do! Plus Ryan and I really needed some "us time". My mom was nice enough to watch Hunter while we went to Buffalo Wild Wings with some friends. I was so excited to go out, we hadn't really done anything in a while. And I was stoked about showing off my hair to our friends. Everyone said they loved it, and I think they were sincere. (At least I hope so)They said that my new bangs made me look like a different person, and that it looked so good they couldn't even remember what my hair looked like before. That's good, right? We had a blast hangin' out with everyone and maybe we'll get to do it again soon. But for now its time to get my big-girl-mommy pants back on and get back to reality, my Nugget. I missed him so much and right now we are snuggled up together and ready for bedtime. Good night world!

Did my belly button look like that?

Maren watched Hunter for me tonight while I went to class. Hunter loves Maren, she always feeds him yummy soul food! Well, today Maren picked him up and took him over to her house to play with Beans the Basset Hound. Beans used to live at our apartment until he destroyed everything in it; He now resides at Maren's house so he can play outside and live in this awesome doggy barn! It's basically like the Four Season's of doggy barns. But anyway, getting back to my story... Maren's niece Maddison loves Hunter so much! She always wants to do everything for him, feed him, play with him, hold him, you name it Maddison does it. Everyone was sort of skeptical when Maddison wanted to help change his diaper tonight because of the whole girl parts and boy parts thing. She is just three by the way. They decided to let her help and just not pay any attention to Hunter's differences, lol. Maddison looked at Hunter's, well you-know-what, and said, "Did my belly button used to look like that?" Maren was like what do mean Maddison? Maddison said "Did my belly button used to look like Hunter's? Did it stick out?" Maren and her Mom told her that boys and girls have different kinds of belly buttons, so no hers never look like Huunter's. When I went to pick up Hunter Maren told me about it and I thought it was so funny! I just had to share it!

Easter!

Ah, Spring time is finally here! I am so happy to enjoy all of this warm weather and sunshine, and Easter was perfect too! Hunter went on his very first egg hunt, actually he went on several different egg hunts. He would find two eggs, so he would have one in each hand. Then he was done, he just wanted to sit in the grass and bang them together. So cute! We have lots of places to go on Holidays so by the time the day was over we were four houses down, and it was almost ten o'clock when we got home. We were all beat! The Easter bunny was very good to Hunter this year. He got like four Easter baskets and and endless supply of stuffed animals. One of my favorite things that was in one of his baskets was The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Friends on DVD. I used to watch that when I was little so I thought it was pretty cool for Hunter to have it too! It was such a wonderful day spent with family and friends!

There isn't a changing table in there? Seriously?

Last night Ryan's Dad was nice enough to take us out to eat for dinner. We met him and his girlfriend at Texas Road House in Knoxville and were excited about eating a baked sweet potato! Yum! This did not happen because for all of you who didn't know: Babies Rule Your Life! Hunter wanted the evening to be all about him, which it always is anyway! But last night the mischievous Nugget was out! After making a huge mess with the rolls, napkins, silverware, etc, Hunter decides that he doesn't want to be confined to his highchair anymore! I got him out put him in my lap, fed him, I basically entertained him through the entire meal. Bill's (Ryan's Dad)girlfriend finally offers to take him off my hands for a few minutes while I eat.Hunter thanks her by throwing up right down the front of her shirt, right down her cleavage! I was so embarrassed, this was the first time we had met! Thankfully she was cool with it and we finished up our meal. Hunter was being a little too quiet at this point. When Hunter is quiet one of three things is going on 1)- He's mesmerized by some type of light 2)- He's pooping or 3)He's sleeping. I bet you can guess what he was doing. Number two! Ryan volunteers to take him to the bathroom and change him, I was relieved that I was spared! After about 30 seconds Ryan brings Hunter back to the table because there isn't any changing tables in the men's bathroom. Seriously? Ok so I take Hunter into the bathroom and attempt to change him. When I say attempt, I'm so serious. This dirty diaper was ruthless. Remember the zoo trip diaper? This one trumped it by a long shot, let's just say that I had to literally strip Hunter down and give him a bath in the sink at Texas Road House. His poop had squirted out the side of his diaper and got all over his little Polo romper! I had no clothes in my diaper bag so I had to take Hunter back out into the restaurant wearing only his diaper. I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy! Luckily I had some extra clothes in my car. There is never a dull moment in my life!

Hunter's New Do

Today was the big day, Hunter's 1st Hair cut! This may seem like no big deal to most people, but to us proud mommas its major! I wasn't in a big hurry to get his hair cut but my Aunt Kelly is like super OCD ( Sorry Kelly, but it's true!) and kept pushing the whole hair cut idea. So I finally caved in and made an appointment. Hunter's appointment was actually yesterday but I forgot all about it until I just happened to be at Kelly's house when she mentioned the whole hair cut thing again. I was like don't worry he has an appointment...wait oh my gosh his appointment was this morning! Luckily we were able to get worked in this morning and all was well! I wasn't sure how Hunter would do, but he just sat right up in the chair all by himself! There were no tears, no tantrums, nothing! Just my little baby that's growing up too fast. He is going to be a little man before I know it!

The Boot Scootin' Nugget

Hunter took his very first steps today! This is a major milestone moment for my little guy and I'm so proud of him! The bad part was that I almost missed it! My friend Maren usually watches Hunter for me on Tuesdays and Thursdays while I go to class. Tonight, however, Maren wasn't available so Hunter went to Mamaw and Papaw's. When I went to pick him up I walked into Mamaw's and it looked like a tornado had hit. I guess one kind of did, Tornado Hunter! She walked down the stairs with a half-naked little nugget who was so excited to see his mommy! We sat down in the living room and Hunter went over to this cabinet and pulled up, then he just turned and walked a few steps to his toys! I was like oh my gosh!!! I'm super excited and just had to let everyone know!

Help! I'm Drowning in a Sea of Laundry!

So Ryan has been checking up on my blogging. One might feel flattered for their boyfriend to care about little things like a Mommy*Wood blog. I wish that was the case. Ryan just wanted me to inform everyone that I'm not as realistic as I should be in my postings. I was kind of peeved about this little remark and wanted to know how so? He says that I just talk about the happy fairytale type of stuff, not the nitty, gritty, reality of it all. So here is whats going on inside of my apartment right now: there are several small mountains sprouting up everywhere! Of course they're not actual mountains, but mounds of dirty laundry that I keep putting off washing. There are also about a million toys laying around everywhere. Oh, and I don't think I have any clean underwear to wear tomorrow. Our apartment is tiny and cluttered to sum it up in a nutshell. I am the free spirited one who doesn't really sweat the small stuff, where as Ryan is a total neat freak! We are basically complete opposites in this area. I mean really who wants to sit at home and wash clothes all day when you could be out enjoying this beautiful spring weather? Not me, that's for sure. Maybe I'm being lazy and irresponsible. Maybe I'm not being the best housewife. I am having fun living though. Ryan is right, I do need to do laundry, and in time I will. Maybe I'll surprise him tomorrow when he gets home from work with a clean house and a yummy dinner! It could be fun right? Like in the movies when the husband gets off work and comes home to his wife wearing only an apron finishing up dinner. Ok so tomorrow's agenda- Clean the apartment (boo) wash clothes (double boo) and make Ry something yummy. Keep your fingers crossed that by some miracle I pull this off!

Hey, let's get a boat!

So today we took a trip to Bass Pro Shop. I know what you're thinking, me at Bass Pro Shop, I know trust me. It's not really my scene but Ryan wants to get a boat so where the BF goes I go. Once we got there Ryan led me over to the boats. We passed by the wake-boarding boats, I thought oh well maybe he wants a Pontoon boat. We passed by the Pontoon boats...uh oh. Not...the...fishing boats!!!My picture of laying out in the sun and tubing were shattered by this, this Bass Tracker! Ryan and his Papaw are thinking about buying one so that they can fish together, and take Hunter and teach him how to fish. I thought about it and isn't that what its really all about? I am all about family bonding and doing things together so I guess in the long run the "fishing boat" might not be such a bad idea. I put myself in check and stopped acting like a bratty teenager. Not that I acted out or anything I was just a little taken off guard by the, not-so Malibu, fishing boat. I guess you can still lay out in the sun on a fishing boat, right? I might not be as fancy as the wake-borders but I'll still be 1) on the lake 2) getting some much needed sun and 3)I'll be with the two loves of my life. Beat that Malibu boat!

Pictures from the Zoo!

A Day at the Zoo.

So today was B-E-A-Utiful to say the least, and the perfect day for a trip to the zoo. Not to mention that the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba were there too! Of course this perfect day wasn't without its flaws. To start the trip off Hunter's stroller wouldn't fit in the car with all four kids, myself, and Ryan's aunt Carla. What to do? Strap it to the top of the vehicle with bungee cords, duh! We totally looked like the Clampets. After we made it to the zoo the day was flawless: sunshine, happy babies, and all of the animals were out and about! Actually WAIT- there was one major flaw, Hunter had the dirtiest diaper in the entire world! I am not even being the least bit sarcastic either! He had some how managed to poop out a gallon of what looked like carrots and he had it all the way up his stomach. Grosso, I know. It didn't make things any better that I had to change him on a log bench while people were walking by. Shhhew! One poopy diaper and a wardrobe change later we were off to the petting zoo!
Now we are both home and ready for the 3 B's.
Bath-Bottle-Bedtime
Stay tuned :)

Day uno of de Blog

So I finally broke down and decided to do the whole blogging thing, I guess you can say I'm a sucker for trends : ) This being my first official blog post I should probably introduce myself...Ahem...I am basically a 21 year old soccer mom. Boring? Maybe to some, but I feel that my life is full of great things that the world needs to know about! Or maybe I just need an outlet to vent. Who knows? I live for trashy celeb gossip magazines and E news. I used to fantasize about being famous and wearing big sunglasses even when it wasn't sunny out. ( bad, I know) But I have had one of the biggest reality checks that one could ever get, a child. With the birth of my son Hunter I've had a major eye-opening experience and realized ,that as much as I hate to admit, the world no longer revolves around Lindsey. So get ready to join me on my journey at motherhood, who knows where we will end up!
